Recently, NewJeans’ management agency, ADOR, proceeded to file a legal document with the U.S. District Court in California on April 11th. The filling aims to unveil the identity of an anonymous YouTube account owner who has been allegedly disseminating defamatory videos targeting the K-pop group NewJeans.
Accusations made by NewJeans point towards this individual who is said to have produced numerous videos, resulting in more than 13 million collective views, slandering the girl group.
The group’s counsel elaborated on the case, saying, “The published content involved mockery and derogatory statements directly aimed at NewJeans, severely tarnishing their public image.”

Subsequently, on April 30th, the U.S. District Court granted ADOR’s motion, allowing the agency access to the personal details of the YouTube account owner. This decision enables ADID to initiate both civil and criminal legal proceedings, focusing on charges related to defamation.
Reports indicate that this particularly targeted YouTuber had also engaged in creating videos criticizing other K-pop acts such as LE SSERAFIM, aespa, BLACKPINK, IVE, and ILLIT.
Even in the wake of the lawsuit from NewJeans’ agency, this YouTuber persisted in uploading content ridiculing NewJeans member Minji, drawing continued outrage and disapproval.

In similar fashion, Starship Entertainment, the agency representing IVE member Jang Wonyoung, previously secured details from Google regarding the identity of a YouTube channel operator who was circulating harmful rumors about their artist and others. As a result, Starship Entertainment pursued a lawsuit for damages.
Starship Entertainment initiated this legal battle with the intention of establishing a legal benchmark to punish such malign activities. It now appears that NewJeans is taking a page out of Jang Wonyoung’s book, joining in the ongoing crusade to clamp down on malicious online behavior.
