Luke Newton has recently provided insight on his experience filming sensitive scenes in Bridgerton.
Well-known for his portrayal of Colin Bridgerton in the new segments of season three, the 31-year-old actor engaged in some heated sequences with Nicola Coughlan, his on-screen counterpart. Luke recounted a humorous episode that transpired on set during a conversation with Men’s Health.

The actor chuckles as he recalls, “Your immediate thought is, ‘How am I going to appear on screen?’ I didn’t dwell on it—until I caught my reflection while wearing my modesty pouch, essentially a sock with a protective cup that’s taped to you in front, and I just had to laugh,” he stated.
“I was donning a robe at the time, so I approached Nic and warned her, ‘Nic, it’s better if I show you this now before we start filming because you’re bound to burst out laughing during the scene, ruining the sultry, passionate vibe.’” He explains that after sharing a laugh together, they were both trying to stifle their amusement during the on-set reveal. “Thankfully, we were afforded the time needed by production. A scene that only lasts around five minutes took us three days to shoot. This luxury meant we could film at a relaxed pace without feeling rushed onto the next scene,” he added.
Luke opened up about how their real-life friendship provided comfort during the shooting of these provocative scenes.
“Initially, it seemed as though it would be quite awkward. Thinking about undressing in front of a friend and then portraying a sexual scene with them does seem awkward, right? But our existing friendship and understanding as Luke and Nic, and as our respective characters, made us feel at ease,” he expressed. “Understanding each other so well meant that there was plenty of trust during the filming.”
The duo had previously discussed whether it’s tougher to enact intimate scenes with someone you’re friends with.
