On June 10 at 4 PM KST, EXO’s Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin—collectively known as EXO-CBX—through their agency INB100, organized an emergency press conference at Shilla Hotel. They presented allegations of unfair practices by their management company, SM Entertainment.

Shortly afterwards, SM Entertainment contested these accusations from EXO’s Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, suggesting that they sought all benefits without facing any of the associated downsides.

“We would like to extend our apologies to Chairman Cha Ga Won and CEO Shin Dong Hyun for the renewed tampering allegations from SM and press for them to reveal their tampering thresholds.

A firm legal stance will be adopted in reaction to the tampering allegations from SM, considering civil and criminal penalties for libel and distribution of falsities.

It appears trivial that a large corporation such as SM overlooks the principal matter and fixates on lesser issues.

SM does not meet the standards of an entertainment entity as it casts aspersions on its artists, EXO-CBX, as guilty of tampering. EXO-CBX made the decision to forgo their exclusive contract fee to sustain their activities with SM Entertainment.

We put forth this press conference today to reassert our demands towards SM Entertainment.

A clear elaboration is demanded from SM on what constitutes tampering. Is seeking guidance from peers, seniors, juniors, and fellow colleagues now tantamount to tampering?

Baekhyun’s consultations for founding his personal venture do not align with SM’s tampering narrative, given he aspired to form a single proprietorship.
