Renowned actor and politician Mithun Chakraborty was recently admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after suffering a stroke. Debashree Roy, his co-star in the upcoming movie Shastri, shared an encouraging update on his health. In a conversation with Zoom, she said, “I also met Mithun Da at the hospital. He is now faring much better, having been hospitalised timely due to a dip in his sugar levels which made him feel quite unwell. Thankfully, he’s out of the ICU and currently recuperating in a regular room.”
Shastri director Pathikrit Basu also visited Chakraborty in the hospital and stated, “I can assure you after my visit to the hospital that he is in better condition. Mithunda has even discussed resuming shoot in a few days. He’s looking forward to returning to the set and continuing his work.”
The hospital released an official statement on Saturday evening clarifying the situation: “Shri Mithun Chakraborty, aged 73 and a National Award-winning actor, arrived at the Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata’s Emergency Department at around 9.40 am with signs of weakness affecting the right side of his body. He underwent thorough diagnostic procedures including an MRI of the brain. The diagnosis is an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke). Currently, he is fully conscious, oriented, and has had a soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is under the care of a multidisciplinary medical team including neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist, as he continues to be evaluated.”
